How the DONT SPLASH monster hunts

The monster cannot see you. The wall says it hears the water. Throw a pebble or bottle away from your route, cross when it turns, and keep a flare for a five-second stun.

What it responds to

The field notes that match the footage: it investigates water splashes and the loud machinery at the Maintenance Lock valves. It moves through the green water between platforms and columns. It can come at a platform from the front or slide along the edge. Up close, the mouth opens in front of you and a red overlay covers the screen.

It can grab a player who is still in the jump. Do not jump over its head to “skip” the platform. No stud radius, no ignore-chance formula, and no eye-line stat is published. A “50 studs” claim was not verified in the reviewed sources.

What actually changes its path

Pebbles make small skips (3 splashes at upgrade 0, 4 at level 1) and pull it toward the sound. Bottles make one loud splash at the landing point. The wind-up toy runs 6 seconds at Toy Battery 0/3 and 7 seconds at 1/3; its unlock cost was not on the menus we could price. A flare hit shows STUNNED for 5 seconds, then an 8-second window where a second stun does not land. Flare radius is 10 studs at 0/3 and 11 at 1/3. The rope pulls a downed teammate. It does not touch the monster.

  • Easy: 1 monster. Shorter levels, more platforms, half coin rewards.
  • Normal: 3 monsters. This is the clear the locked difficulty counts.
  • Locked difficulty: up to 5 monsters after you beat Normal twice (BEAT NORMAL 0/2).

A close call

If the red overlay is already up, you are in grab range. A stun bought before the jump is the documented counter. After the 5 seconds, do not stand in the same splash and expect a second stun. The immunity is 8 seconds. Then get onto a dry tile that is not the edge it is circling. The stage-by-stage places this happens are on the map.

Research note. The cited walkthrough shows the wall instruction and water-side attacks. Numeric tool timings below are reported field notes, not measurements made by this site. No hearing radius was verified in the reviewed sources.

Questions on this page

Can the monster see me if I stand still?

The game’s own sign says it cannot see you and hears the water. Standing still is not a stealth meter. Splashes and valve machines are the documented triggers.

How far away can it hear me?

No distance was verified in the reviewed sources. This page will not print a stud number.
